The 4 Agreements Podcast

Peter: And a little bit later in this podcast, in this conversation, I`d like to talk about this very particular point, because from a communicative point of view, I think you`re doing this brilliant, that you can write a book that can really address a very large group of people, regardless of training, regardless of prior knowledge, in a way that touches people. So I`d like to talk to you in a minute about how you did that process. Before we do that, let`s talk about the book itself, and you start with the problem that requires us to have these four agreements, and that problem is related to what you call the domestication of people. Can you talk about that for a moment? All these words in the book are dead, but you give life by reading it. As soon as you read it, these words come into action and go straight into our heads, and it`s a challenge, all the ideas we had before, all these concepts. It is about fighting against this superstition that we create, and it is the fight against the fanaticism that we have to defend our own lives. When you read it for the second time, you will really be confronted with many of these superstitions. You`re a little less fanatical, and now you can go even further in this book, because this book is really like a mirror that reflects on you. With four simple chords, it reflected you so well, and it`s not really important, not even the language you speak, because it`s now been translated into 40 different languages, which means it`s all over the world, and it fits deep into everyone who reads this book. This is beyond any domestication we have because it goes directly to our own integrity before we even learn to speak. Peter: It`s beautiful.

Peter: One more quick question before we get into the chords, because I remember, listening to you, that there`s a part of me that feels like it`s really for me to be very aware of what you want and how you can meet your expectations, because I could succeed in life, becoming the one you need to be, and that if I am the one you need, if it is a general public, if it is a boss, if it is a colleague, if it is a mother or a father, or if it is even a child, that if I could be, If you need me, I`ll be safe, and then you`ll stay, and I`ll succeed in my business, and I`ll succeed in what I do…
